Link Like

10 08 2008

Pipe down, I’m back.

Thanks for all your well wishes. For the past few days, I’ve been living on Theraflu (which, if you’ve never had, make sure you are completely ready to fall asleep and dont have anything to do for the next 9 hours) and soup, and feel much better, with the exception of a still nagging sore throat.

This did, however, free up a lot of time for aimlessly wandering the internet and I stumbled upon a few gems (some fitness related, some not.)

Love is a strong word, so I will call this Link Like. I have commitment issues.

*For those of you with blogs that are seriously looking to up your page views and readership consider joining Blog Carnivals. Submit a post that fits the carnival host’s criteria and shows off your writing skills, and they will post them on their site, sending their readers to your blog.

*I linked this on GroundedFitness, but researchers have developed an exercise pill. Seriously. It’s supposed to duplicate the results of cardiovascular exercise without actually doing any exercise.

*I had no idea those skirts were such a big deal.

*The history behind a lot of exercise gear we don’t give a second thought.

I hove nothing to do today but a little cleaning, writing a few newpaper articles, and then Im walking Porkie to Petco to get his nails clipped. i also have to get hime on of those embarrassing cones cause he has a cut on his ear he will not let heal. Im not entirely convinced it will stay on, but we’ll see. He’s gunna be so mad at me today.

Head to GroundedFitness and read Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor’s Thighs.

Glad you’re feeling better, Kelly! Although I wish that nagging sore throat would go away. I think sore throats are the worst – yuck.

Thanks for the link love (er..like). I’m going to check out that blog carnival because in the future I’m hoping to start writing more long-form posts instead of daily journals.

When I first thought about running in a skirt I thought “hell no”. But I will say that after going to lululemon and trying on the speed skirt (the velocity was reviewed by runner’s world, a little long for my 5’2 frame) I am now a believer. It was comfortable and kind of cute. But the true test is actually running in it, like ten miles and see how it holds up. Caitlinbo sorry you can’t run the chaser. I am going to run it with my single friend in October in Austin. It’s only an hour drive and hopefully she will meet someone.

The skirt issue just keeps going. It’s like a BIG deal to some people. I’m no professional runner, but I like mine for running, weight lifting or seriously just walking the dog. Hey, whatever floats your boat, right?

Very interesting about the exercise gear. Sport bras have come a LONG way.

Glad you’re on the mend!

Glad you are feeling better! I do know some folks that are seriously ticked off over the skirt – my sister the marathon runner wears them just to irritate folks like that. That’s my sis!! :-)

The world’s first sports bra makes me LAUGH.

I wish I could get my hands on one of those creatures…nothing says “sexy” like meeting husband at the door in that and a pair of long johns.

Okay so I randomly found a some sort of running skirt in my closet a couple of weeks ago…and yeah occasionally I have been running around with it. Nobody yelled anything at me….yet. It doesn’t feel any different from running with my usual running shorts…but oh well…
Kelly, I have a quick question. What is your opinion about rest time between sets when weight lifting/general strength training? Sometimes I am just watching television, so I would do a set of push ups, then watch TV for 5 minutes, do another set etc. Basically my question is, should I not be taking a break in between?

Something about those dogs and the cones always makes me chuckle. It is like a human getting an eye injury and having to wear an eye patch. Also makes me chuckle (yes, I am a terrible person.)

Glad you are feeling better!!

If you are into a little more non-committal link-like, visit Be Naturally Well and add your blog to the roll.

If you had some extra time to spare I just started a forum there and I am looking for a fitness expert to pop in a couple of times a day and answer fitness questions in exchange for some exposure. Deets on the site.

Many Blessings,
shelley
