Another Day, Another List
16 02 2009So I was all ready to show you guys the pictures of Valentine’s Day weekend, but none of them turned out. Im not exactly sure what happened, but rest assured, we had a great time.
In my quest to ramp up my workouts, I’ve decided to increase the frequency as well, getting back to do something everyday.
Im a HUGE fan of lists. My planner is just daily to-do lists, I have goal lists, errand lists, grocery lists- I have a horrible memory and its the only way I can make sure everything gets done. Something I tell my clients to do is make a big list of all the possible things you can do to fit in some exercise, listing out your workout DVD’s, gym time, things you can do at home, etc. When you have more of a variety, or are short on time, its easy to just check your list and pick something that fits with your day.
A lot of times, someone will say “I dont have time to go to the gym” and skip their workout completely (myself included.) Having a list of things that involve different amounts of time, different equipment, different types of weather, etc takes that excuse away.
I keep this list of the fridge for easy access. Today, I came home from work around 12:00 noon, and have to be back at 5:00pm. I have ANOTHER list of errands I have to do today, like the dishes, walk the dog to the bank, computer stuff, and so on, and I decided to do a few miles on my treadmill at home.
Off to eat some lunch and then head back to work- bleh. more later!

I LIVE by my to-do lists, haha – glad that that work for you too!!
Good luck at work!!
i LOVE lists!! do you have a daily planner that is a good vessel for daily – multiple lists? i have yet to find one that works well for me, either not enough space, or it’s just a notebook so no date (boo). do you prefer running as a cardio workout? and have you ever thought about running in races?
I love lists! My favorite part is crossing stuff off
i am OBSESSED with lists!! so satisfying to cross things off and seeing you’re accomplishing something! great workout list idea, I’ll have to try that because i make waaay too many lame excuses sometimes in terms of having time to work out.
Lists are good. Maybe a little OCD, but necessary.
I carry around a red leather memo book that I started writing in almost 2 years ago. I use it to make lists, write down fragments of certain thoughts or questions I want to remember later and addresses/phone numbers of people I meet. It is definitely the grease in my wheels. Plus, it’s kinda cool to go back and look at what I did last summer at a glance, like a thumbnail diary.
Can I echo the love of list-making? I have my daily planner AND a notebook full of lists of things to do, as well as a whiteboard in my kitchen for grocery/home stuff lists.
Although the list of workout options I had never thought of… good idea
Our bank is closed today!
I make lists too
Today I made one of all my upcoming check-ups to take care of me and that makes me smile that I’m on the list
LOVE crossing things off lists!
lacey- yeah i do. it always takes me forever to find one i like because i need the whole month, and then weekly, too, which is what I have now. Its by bluesky- thats all i know about it.
camille- i have a little notebook i carry around too to write stuff down like that. i really do have a horrible memory- it awful.
anneette- im so glad you said that! ours are closed too- i didnt even think it might be closed for presidents day. thank you!!
My lists are my brain. There are constantly about four to five different lists going at one time.
Hope you get to do a lot of crossing out!
i love making lists too, but I usually just put them somewhere I can’t find them and forget about em’. i am so potentially organized!
lists are the best. I love even putting stuff on that I already did just so I can cross it off, sick I know. Sorry to hear our pics did not turn out, but at least you had fun.
I heart lists!! And think THIS is a list everyone should have. Smart, smart. If I had this I might actually dust off my pilates videos every once in a while when I’m too lazy to go to the gym on Sunday!
I could not function without my lists. I want to do a Kettlebell workout so badly, but my gym does not have any.
i like lists, too. especially b/c the feeling of crossing things off is awesome
You have gotten your dog to do the banking? I’m impressed. I can’t even get my OCD border collie to pick up his toys!
Love that you keep a list that gives you no excuses. MIne is in my head – and much less organized. Adding make a list to my list…
I have 3 (only 3!) going right now for things I need to do… I heart heart heart lists. They’re wonderful.
