I Was Very Bad…

27 02 2009

I did something bad yesterday.

It could have been worse, though.

As I mentioned, I’m overhauling my apartment, and I knew this day would come.

I went shopping.

However, I am the master bargain hunter and got some awesome stuff for unbelievably cheap.

I got this adorable ottoman and two storage baskets from Goodwill

I love the top of the ottoman- it was only $4.99!

I got some art from Big Lots- nothing over $15. And you can see the corner of my head in the mirror. I dyed my hair dark brown. Maybe Ill show it to you when im not so hideous (I just woke up, I love not working on Fridays!)

And also from Big Lots, a new comforter, pillow and bed skirt set ($20!) a free standing lamp ($9.99!) and 2 sheer curtains ($5 each!)

Plus, I bought a ton of groceries. Grand total: $130.00. Yeah. That’s right.

Porkie is a buttinski

I broke myself

if you looked at yesterday’s post, I did explosive pushups. What I didn’t say, was I did them on the bench press bar, on the lowest rung, about mid-calf height. You just fall foward, grap the bar and do a push-up, but on the up movement, you explode through the arms back up to standing.

Well, halfway through the day, my thumb started to hurt. I couldn’t figure out why, but it continued to spread, and now its my pointer finger, too. Took me a while to figure out, but it was from grabbing the bar with the force of my body weight- Im pretty sure i stretched out some of the tendons and bruised it as well. Sucks. So if you try those, be careful. Right now i can;t grip anything- I have to pinch it like a crab.

A Big Giant Thanks

To Dave from Write in My Journal for helping me with my blog issue. I totally blacklisted those fools.

Big Show Tonight

Can you tell I just discovered headings?

Jerome, who has been commenting recently (GASP!) and who did his at home workout last night (good boy) has a show tonight. His band, Trip Like Animals, is playing at Fuel in downtown Seattle. How awesome would it be if some local EGN readers came? Pretty awesome. I’ll probably have video for ya’ll tomorrow.

What are your weekend plans?

I’m so sorry, but I had to giggle just a little at your hand injury. What an amazingly annoying place to hurt. Hope it wasn’t your dominant hand. At least you got some cool Goodwill swag.

Bobby’s doing something nerdy tomorrow (volunteering at some convention) so I am free! I’m thinking I might go to a yoga class, paint my nails, clean the house, etc… Though the house is pretty clean right now because I had got up at 3am this morning (couldn’t sleep) and decided to be uber-productive. Bobby got up to go to work and walked into the living room and was like, “wow…”. We might go out to dinner tonight though.

You ARE the master bargain shopper. I am okay at finding bargains but lack in taste so I just end up with junk. Your stuff actually looks classy! Have fun tonight!

Ah, a woman after my own heart. My boyfriend is continually amazed when I bring home stuff from a shopping trip and tell him how little I paid. It comes from not growing up with a ton of money, it has made me a master bargain hunter!

And your doggie continues to steal my heart. You are lucky I don’t live in Seattle or he would totally have a stalker…… =)

OMG don’t feel bad about those purchases at all! Everything you got for so cheap is amazing! Even apartments need a few “pick me up” purchases once in a while! :)

Hope your hand feels better. That sounds painful!

Camevil (16:32:10) :

Holy crap, did you score or what! And you got the dog for a steal. *snorts*

Thrift stores have the greatest finds. Found an uber cool old steamer trunk, some copper peacocks (they’re making a come back, y’know), and a full set of vintage 60′s dinnerware in eyepopping red, gold, green and vermillion colors.

And I heart Big Lots.

Hope your hand gets better. Another war injury. You are your own worst enemy.

Wow what great finds. I espeically love the storage boxes, I have a “thing” for storage boxes, even if I don’t have anything to store in them.

You know what I did one time? I used canned food as weights. This was before my knowledgeable days of exercise, and I was following a suggestion from someone else. After a few days, I noticed that my thumb, my pointer finger, and the area in-between was severely sore, I couldn’t make a fist, and I couldn’t figure out why it hurt so much. Then my next work out came, and I couldn’t even hold the cans tightly. STUPID ME for thinking that was an effective weight. This stemmed my burning desire to find effective and PAINLESS home workout routines. :)
